The first goal of every student who wants to make a career in the field of engineering is to succeed in the JEE Mains exam. The Joint Entrance Test (JEE) Mains, the country’s largest examination to be held for admission in engineering college, is to be held this time between September 1 to 6. However, students and parents are constantly opposing this for the conduct of examination among the corona.

What is JEE Men’s?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains) is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), an agency of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Admission can be taken in various engineering institutes of the country based on the score obtained in this examination. Lakhs of students are involved every year in this biggest and difficult exam of the country.

The examination is conducted at three levels. In which the first two levels are of JEE Mains, while the last and the third level is JEE Advanced. Admission is given to the students based on the score obtained in the three levels and the list made after ranking.

Eligibility

Candidates applying for the exam should pass 12th. However, no age limit has been fixed for this. Candidates appearing in the examination should also have knowledge of language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biotechnology or any other subject. Any candidate is allowed to give JEE Mains for 3 consecutive years. That is, in this examination held twice a year, candidates can attempt 6 times in 3 years.

Apart from this, the citizenship of the candidate appearing in the examination must be Indian. Also, it is compulsory to have at least 75 percent marks and 65 percent marks for SC and ST candidates in the 12th examination.

Exam pattern

This examination for admission in engineering is conducted in offline and online mode. Candidates can give JEE Mains in offline and online mode, but in paper 2 only pen-paper based examination is required. The examination is conducted in two shifts, which are conducted in Hindi, English and other regional languages. Total for BE-BTech 90 and B.Arch or B.A. 82 questions are asked for planning. Also, negative marking is done when wrong answer is given.

syllabus

Syllabus for JEE Mains is prescribed by NTA. In the exam, questions are asked from 12th or similar syllabus. This includes Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Aptitude Test, Drawing Test etc. In Physics, questions related to Kinetics, Law of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Gravitation Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases etc. are asked. At the same time, questions are asked on the basis of three sections in chemistry.

admit card

The NTA has issued the admit card for this exam starting on 1 September itself. Candidates appearing in the examination can download their admit card from the official website jeemain.nta.nic. Name, examination center address, admit card number, roll number, exam time, gender, time of paper appearing etc. are given on the admit card given by the agency.

How to download admit card

  • First of all, visit the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on the JEE Mains Admit card link on the homepage here.
  • Now a new page will appear on the display screen.
  • Submit your registration number and password here.
  • The JEE Main Admit Card will appear on the display screen.
  • Download the admit card and take a print out of it for future.

Exam center

The NTA has decided to increase the number of examination centers this time for the examinations taking place between Corona. After this, now this examination will be conducted in 660 centers instead of 570 centers. Apart from this, instead of 1 lakh 32 thousand candidates in one shift, only 85000 candidates will be seated. Recently, NTA has uploaded the information of the examination centers allotted to the candidates on the official website.

result

Result of JEE Mains is released on the date fixed by the NTA after the examination. This time the result can be released on 10 September. The results of the examination will be released online, which can be seen by entering the students’ roll number and other information. Results released by the agency include subject wise score, NTA score achieved in the first and second attempt, best score out of 2 points, All India Rank, cutoff for JEE Advance etc.

Cutoff

IIT, NIT and GFTI have to score minimum marks to get admission. Different cutoffs are issued for each category, branch, institute. After which admission is taken in these colleges. After the result is released or counseling, online cutoff is issued by the NTA. The candidates who get the cutoff qualify for the next level ie JEE Advanced. The cutoff for the exam is done based on the following factors:

  • Applications received in the exam
  • Number of questions asked in the paper
  • Exam difficulty level
  • Student performance
  • JE E-mail cut off of last years

Counseling

The counseling of JEE Mains is done through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA). JoSSA is a conducting body that provides counseling for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Counseling and seat allocation for JEE Main is based on the merit of the candidate, availability of seats, choice of institute and courses. Counseling for JEE Main will be followed by two mock rounds followed by seven rounds.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA) has the authority to manage and regulate seat allocation. More than 100 institutes will be given admission for the academic year 2020-21 through the seat allotted by JoSSA. Allotted seats for JEE Mains in the year 2020-

Advisory issued by NTA

  • To avoid congestion and maintain social distancing, candidates have to reach the examination center as per the time given in the admit card 2020.
  • On reaching the examination center, the body temperature of each candidate will be checked by the security personnel.
  • Candidates will be provided with three-layer masks. This mask will have to be used during the examination.
  • Before entering the examination hall, every candidate has to clean their hands with the available hand sanitizer there.
  • Candidates will be allowed to carry JEE Mains Admit Card, ID Card, Transparent Ball Point Pen, Additional Photographs, Personal Hand Sanitizer and Transparent Water Bottle.
  • Keeping in mind the social distancing according to the guidelines of the Government of India, the gap between the two seats will be kept inside the hall.
  • The JEE Mains Admit Card will be checked through bar code reader, frisking will be done through metal detector to avoid physical contact.
  • Disabled students must have a disability certificate and bring their own scribe. Scribe will have to bring self declaration related to educational certificates, self declaration letter related to Kovid-19 and valid government ID card.
  • The candidates will have to bring their own geometry box and color pencil for the drawing test.
  • Parents are advised not to stay at the examination centers during the JEE Mains exam.
  • It is mandatory for the candidates to keep a distance of at least 6 feet in the campus.
  • Thick soled shoes / slippers and big buttoned clothing are not allowed.
