The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) told the Supreme Court on Friday that it could conduct compartment examinations for Class 10th and 12th students by the end of September. Also, the board also informed that in view of Corona, the examination centers have been increased to 1,278. In fact, the court has issued notice to the CBSE on the petitions filed by the students for postponing the examination.

The court sought a response from the board till 7 September

A three-judge bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar issued notice on petitions filed by students led by Anika Samvedi. The court directed the CBSE to file the reply by September 7, deferring the hearing in the case till September 10. This year, 1.5 lakh students will be appearing in the 10th and about 87,000 students in the 12th examination. The petitioners first applied to the CBSE to cancel the examinations, but it was rejected on 6 August. The petitions were filed against this decision of 6 August.

Number of examination centers increased to 1278

In this sequence, Advocate Rupesh Kumar, appearing for CBSE, said that after taking all necessary precautions, the examination is likely to be conducted by the end of September. Apart from this, CBSE has increased the number of 575 exam centers from last year to 1278 this year. Also, the board will arrange to seat only 12 students in a class. The court directed CBSE to put it on the affidavit before the next date of hearing.
